Why a Social Impact Jam?
At Videojuegos Sin Fronteras we believe in the transformative potential of video games. We believe that video games are cultural products and, as such, they are capable of creating and modifying meanings; therefore, they can be a tool to understand and transform our realities.
Since 2015 we have been working with this perspective in different projects, trying to make a better world using video games to do so. We have collaborated with local governments, universities, non-profit organizations, activists, game studios, museums and individuals who have helped us to learn about a wide range of practices and broaden our horizons when it comes to understanding the medium.
How does it work?
The jam will take place on October 18, 19 and 20 in La Noria, Malaga. It is a free event in which we offer the space to develop, the maintenance of the participants during the event and our collaboration in forming working teams and solving any problem (technical or not) that may arise; we can not offer accommodation nor can we stay in the center working during the night. For any doubt about the functioning of the event you can consult our FAQ.
The theme of the event will be focused on the development of impact video games; the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals will serve as a framework and the experience of several local entities, who will share their work, can serve as inspiration.
