There is nothing to worry about. It is not necessary to have previous knowledge or to have developed games before to participate, the only thing necessary is to come with the desire to learn and have fun.
Do I have to make my game with a specific program?
No, you have all the freedom to make the game with the tools of your choice (excluding generative AIs and cryptos / NFTS).
There is a wide variety of tools at your fingertips to create video games with which you can experiment until you find the one you like the most. Here we list some of them, all of them free!
For more information on free tools, please contact us at civis@vgwb.org.
Do I have to make my game about a specific topic?
This jam is designed to develop games with social impact, that talk about Human Rights and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
At the beginning of the event we will chat with some associations and collectives of Malaga that will throw us some issues that they work on in their day to day in case they can inspire us but there is no commitment to have to make your game about anything specific beyond that has to do with the Sustainable Development Goals or Human Rights in general.
Can I use AI in my games?
Generative? No. There is a lot of talent that comes to the events, in our events we will always support artists by collaborating and working together. If you want to have an NPC that moves, of course you can program an Artificial Intelligence.
Who can I ask for help during the jam if I get stuck?
To all the people you will see wearing the CIVIS GAME JAM organization t-shirts (it’s black with a little flying boat). The people of the organization are both people from the association MálagaJam and from Videojuegos Sin Fronteras, we will help you as much as possible!
Until what time do I have to make my game?
